That said, a good shaper with a set of measurements and a few curves can create or replicate just about anything. Well, I would counter with another question: if you struggle at shrinking or stretching a full-length template to make a consistent curve at various sizes, why should the result be any different with a spin template? It’s just the same curve reduced to half the size. The most common question I get is how to make one spin template that can be used for different sizes. Today’s technology makes them very easy to create and make. I have a whole cache of them for various models and for the varying measurements that those models are available in. They are lightweight, half-length, easy to store and easier to travel with. So much so that I’m using them for the Jones Shapes logo. They are my favorite templates to work with. Spin templates are half-length versions of full-length templates in which the front half of the outline is represented on one side and the tail half on the other.
